Replacement Threaded Hitch Pin Lock For Allen Bike Rack

Question:

Hello, I have an Allen model 542RR rack which did not come with the option to purchase a hitch lock. Is there a lock that is compatible with this rack? The hitch bolt is a 1/2 inch no wobbleinch and 3 3/4 inches long. The rack is secured to the receiver by the bolt that goes through the receiver and is attached by a threaded nut. There are no threads inside the 1/2 inch pin area. Please see photo. Thank you!

Since we don't carry Allen bike racks, we don't offer a brand-specific lock that would work. Typically, the bike rack manufacturers use threaded hitch pins that have a proprietary thread pitch, so you're forced to purchase their hitch locks. That being said, we do offer a universal-type lock that works with hitch mounted accessories for a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch hitch. I'd recommend the Lets Go Aero # SHP2082 which works for hitch accessories with hollow shanks.

Installation would involve removing the threaded block from the interior of the shank on your bike rack and replacing it with the threaded block/spring included with the # SHP2082 lock. The existing block should simply be a compression fit, and should be easy to remove/replace.

I've linked to product videos for the # SHP2082 lock.
