Which Trailer Wiring Harness for 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Question:

What is makes the Hybrids different so they need to use a different Wiring kit? The brakelights have the same part number from chrysler 68229028/9, so they should have the same plugs, not sure why the recommendation is a generic instead of a normal wiring system. Thanks.

Long story short, the Hybrid model doesn't use a specific harness part number that's unique. The harness needed will depend on whether the vehicle has LED or incandescent taillight assemblies. When we researched the available taillight assembly part numbers, we found several different options.

According to Curt and Tekonsha, the differences between the different taillight converters/4-pole trailer wiring harnesses available for the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica are dictated by the vehicle trim level. The fact that the Hybrid is available in multiple different trim levels makes this more confusing.

The easiest way to find out which harness you need would be to determine if the vehicle has LED or incandescent taillights. Since this isn't always discernable by looking at the taillight assemblies themselves, the easy way to go here is find the color or the factory connectors that plug into the taillight assemblies. If they're black, you'd use the Tekonsha # 118712 that you'd looked at. If the connectors are gray in color, you'd use # 118723.

Let me also add that the owner's manual states that Hybrid models shouldn't be used for towing. If you plan on towing anyway, you'll need a ball mount like # 2753 and a trailer ball like # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.

I've linked to install videos for either wiring harness
