Should Jaws of B&W Patriot 18k Slider Close All The Way & Chucking Issue

Question:

I had a patriot 18k slider installed. The jaws don’t look like they close all the way. Not sure if they suppose to. My new 2021 JAYCOMMAND/TravelLINK 5th wheel chucks really bad. I got in bed and noticed that I can grab the hitch at back and make it rattle. Are there suppose to be any rubber pads or bumpers to stop this noise. When I take off it bangs. When I take off or stop it chucks. What adjustments should I make. This is a b and w hitch install company. Thx for time. Ruff ride.

The jaws of the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - 18,000 lbs # BWRVK3270 should definitely close all the way, yes. And in regards to padding, the Patriot has polyurethane bushings on top of the pivot arms that are designed to help stop noise and chucking.

There aren't any adjustments you can make, you can go back to the installers just to ensure they did it correctly, or you may need to replace the head with the Replacement Head Assembly for B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVC3200.
