How To Install Redarc Tow-Pro Elite RED44FR In 2021 Hyundai Palisade
Question:
I watched your video for installing this controller on the Palisade. It seems the video was for 2020 models even though it is labeled as for a 2021 Palisade. The 2021 Palisade comes with wiring for 7-pin and has a plug under the rear quarter panel to plug into. There is also a 40A fuse slot in the main fuse panel under the hood to hook-up a controller. Can you tell me how to install this in the 2021 models that are prewired for 7 pin controller? To me, I dont think I need to run wires under the car or mount hardware under the hood for connecting the controller and brake wire. Thanks

While you are correct that your 2021 Hyundai Palisade comes prewired for a 7-way connector, there is not a trailer brake controller harness compatible with the trailer brake controller port underneath the dash of your vehicle.
What I recommend is getting the 7-way connector from your local Hyundai Dealer as they are currently the only people that have one available that will plug into your vehicle without splicing or running wires.
Then to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR you were looking at you will use the included splice in wiring harness and will also need a circuit tester # PTW2993.
You will need to test the wires on the factory trailer brake controller port using the circuit tester and find the functions of each wire. There will be a ground wire, trailer brake output wire, constant 12v power wire, and brake signal wire that only has 12v when the brake pedal is pressed.
Using two of the # SWC501915-1 and two of the # SWC502905-1 you will make the following connections:
Black wire of controller harness to constant 12v power wire
White wire of controller harness to ground wire
Blue wire of controller harness to trailer brake output wire
Red wire of controller harness to brake signal wire that only has 12v when brake pedal is pressed.
