If you're having issues with your sliding Reese hitch the first thing to check would be that the legs of your hitch are squarely mounted into the rails. If not this could be causing the bind that's preventing you from being able to lock into place. Since you have the 15k and it's an older model you may need to replace the legs with the Reese Square Tube Slider for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 10" Travel Item # RP30048.

If this doesn't work you may have some broken or worn springs internally and need to replace the head # RP58146 or the whole hitch just to be safe # RP30051.
