The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset # CAB-C5GX1216 is a great adapter and with the offset you will gain a lot of maneuverability on a short bed truck when in tight area's.

There are Interior polyurethane cushions that act as shock absorbers and reduce vibration and road shock. I wasn't able to find a cutout of the offset shock absorber but I have included a picture of a cutout of the Adapter # CAB-C5G. You can see the red cushions inside the base of the hitch that allow the components to absorb vertical and horizontal shock.
