Can the Hub Pilot Be Larger On New Wheels When Upgrading to 175/80-13 Wheels and Tires On Trailer

Question:

went to replace wheels and tires on travel travel trailer we just purchased. the center hub that the old wheels sat on is 2 5/8inch inches the whole of the new wheels is much greater. The travel trailer uses 5 lug bolts so if I put on the new wheels all the weight is on the bolts not the hub. Is this safe, it is a pain to line everything up but once tire is on is all right. Can not seem to find any 13inch wheels with 5 holes and a 2 5/8inch center bore.

In regards to replacing wheels/tires, the hub pilot of the new wheel can be larger than the existing if the existing wheels are lug-piloted and not hub-piloted. If the wheels are hub-piloted then they likely use wheel bolts and not lug studs. Most trailer wheels are lug-piloted. I recommend the Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 13" White Mod Wheel part # TA43RR for replacement. This is a complete assembly ready to go.
