Can Demco Recon for Recesses Balls Fit Flat Bed Truck with Flush Mounted Hitch Ball
Question:
My truck had an aluminum landscape box installed on it and the bed is 9inch higher then the frame. I modified some steel and mounted the drawtite ball plate so the top of the ball is flush with the truck bed. How far does the recon recessed hitch protrude below truck bed? Will this hitch work? If not I will have to modify the steel and mount the ball plate so it is flush with the bed and then my ball will be 4inch higher then the bed. Is the regular recon hitch for balls above the bed a stronger or better unit? Thank you. Cant wait for your reply and to order my correct hitch.

Since your gooseneck ball is not recessed under the bed surface you wouldn't be able to use the Demco Recon part # DM8550046 since it was designed for the recessed ball and wouldn't line up properly with what you have. Unless you can move the ball down below the bed you'd have to go with an adapter like the # CAB-C5G which attaches to the pin box and gives you a coupler to attach to the ball.
