Reese Goose Box Compatibility with Flat Bed Truck

Question:

I am interested in buying a goose box to tow a new trailer. My tow rig has a flat bed so bed side clearance isnt an issue. My question is what goose neck hitch do I need to use for this setup? Can I just use a ball that sticks up above the flatbed? How much clearance do I need around the coupler on the goose box and the flatbed at the ball? Thanks

If your flat bed has a gooseneck hitch ball above the flat bed, you will have no issue using a Reese Goose Box to replace your trailer pin box. If you have a recessed gooseneck hitch ball, I've attached a drawing from the manufacturer that shows you the compatibility measurements which basically show that there needs to be a 15 inch box that is no deeper than 5 inches to the base of the hitch ball.

The Goose Box comes in the 20K capacity # RP85FR. There are also adapter plates # RP61301 for some pin box fits. If you don't know if your pin box number is compatible with a Goose Box then let me know the number which should be printed on a sticker attached to your trailer pin box and I'd be happy to help.

If you don't yet have the trailer the pin box number that is always compatible with this is a common 1621.
