What to do if there is Still Play in your Bike Rack After Using an Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin

Hi I have a Thule apex xt 4. When the anti rattle is tighten all the way and the knob cant turn anymore theres still minor movement or play at the hitch. Do you know what is wrong?

Expert Reply:
The anti-rattle hitch pin of the Thule Apex XT, part # TH9025XT, will not be able to completely eliminate all movement. This is true for all anti-rattle hitch pins since they are designed to significantly reduce play (not eliminate it entirely as that is nearly impossible to do).
If you'd like to reduce this even more, you can use the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories, part # 18050. This strap adds an extra level of support. It has a vinyl-coated hook to prevent scratches to your vehicle. I've linked to a video review of this below.
