What is Small Bolt Near Anti-Rattle Device of Thule Apex Bike Rack

Question:

I recently purchased Thule Apex XT4 Bike Carrier from etrailer.com. During the initial assembly, I noticed a small, black round head hex bolt under the tightening handle. The bolt was not snug so I began to tighten it with the provided Allen wrench. When the bolt just kept turning, I assumed perhaps wrongly that it was part of the tightening mechanism and decided to loosen it to the original position, wherever that was. Can you alleviate my fears that I did something wrong and assure me that I didn’t screw things up? :

That bolt is what the anti-rattle device pivots on as you tighten it. As long as the knob can still turn by hand it's not too tight. If you went back to the same position it was in prior you are totally fine.
