Parts Needed To Install 7-way Connector and Curt Echo Wireless C51180 On 2012 Kia Sedona

Question:

I am looking to wire my 2012 Kia Sedona LX to pull a pop up trailer. I have a few questions. 1. First, what is the difference between the Curt C89KR and Curt C56347? It seems like either kit will work to add a 4 pin trailer connector to my van. 2. Once I have installed my 4 pin trailer connector, I need to add a 4 pin to 7 pin adapter kit so that I can use the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller C51180. I am struggling to choose the correct adapter and understand what wires need to be connected. What 4 pin to 7 pin adapter do you recommend? It seems I need to 30 amp breaker and 12V power to the battery, but the brake blue wire does not need to be connected with the Curt Echo Brake Controller. Do I need to connect the auxiliary wire seems to be purple most of the time and if so to what? 3. Lastly, are there any other parts and pieces I need to get to finish the job the correct way? Thanks for the help!

I would be happy to help!

The Curt T-Connector # C56347 and # C89KR you were looking at are both confirmed to fit your 2012 Kia Sedona and will both give you the 4-way connector you need. There is not major difference between the harnesses so I recommend going with the most cost effective option at the time.

Moving on to adding a 7-way connector to use the Curt Echo Wireless # C51180 I recommend the # ETBC7L which was designed specifically for the Echo. The # ETBC7L will plug into your newly installed 4-way connector and will just require two more connections.

You will need to extend the black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, and ground the white wire to the frame. The yellow wire is typically for reverse lights and since most trailers do not have reverse lights it is typically just taped up out of the way. You are also correct that you will not need to use the blue wire when using the Echo, so you will just need to tape it up by the yellow wire.

Lastly if your trailer hitch receiver does not have a mounting bracket for the 7-way connector, you will need the no drill mounting bracket # 18140 to secure the connector to your hitch.

I included installation videos of the products mentioned
