Removing Stuck Blue Ox Gooseneck Hitch Ball BX62-3604

Question:

I asked this question earlier but did not mention the ball is upside down. The ball is down and hitch is flush with the bed. Been that way for like five years Sorry I was not more imformative. It is stuck, I belive it should come straight up and out, is that not correct? We have used like two cans of wd-40 what about Coke Cola does it really work Thanks in advance

The Blue Ox Gooseneck Hitch Ball BX62-3604 you have requires you to engage a tab on the side and twist the ball for it to come out of your gooseneck hitch.

Since it has been installed for 5 years you may need to use some penetrating oil to soak the hitch ball for a while before it will loosen up and be able to be removed.

Thanks for the info! Since the BX62-3604 is upside down you will not need to twist it to remove it, or engage any tabs. It will just come straight out but since it is probably pretty corroded for being in so long it may be pretty difficult. I have not heard of using Coca-Cola for this type of situation, so instead I would go to your local hardware store and get some of the WD-40 penetrating oil. It is a different formula than standard WD-40 and will do a better job of breaking down corrosion. I would soak the hitch ball a few times a day for a day or two to let it start freeing up, then try to tap the hitch ball out from the bottom.
