When looking at your Solera Slideout Topper when looking at the right side, that is the" Drive" side and the "Idler" will be on the left. It sounds like you need the drive head, so you can use the Replacement Drive Head and Roll Tube for Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - Black # LC34FR.

The slide out rollers need to be wound 7 full times when they are installed. So if you were to remove yours to replace the head with the #LC34FR you'd need to wind the roller 7 full times.

Put the pin back in and wind it 12-16 times rolling it towards the camper to put the correct tension in the slide topper #LCV000163285 before installing it. This will give you the correct amount of tension for extending and retracting the awning.

Did you have have the awning roller wound too tight when you initially installed it? At the time of installation the awning roller should be wound 12-16 rotations to put sufficient tension on the springs. Sounds like you may have yours wound too…

You would have to turn the roller like the #LCV000163285 by hand 14 times before attaching the end of the fabric to the awning rail. If it was already installed you'd have to remove the awning from the rail and wind it before reconnecting it.
