Recommended Weight Distribution System for Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro 15TB

Question:

I have a question regarding trailer balance in regards to WDHs. We are considering a Rockwood Geo Pro 15TB camper to be towed by a 2019 Ford Edge with 3500# tow rating and receiver. The Geo Pro weighs 2600# dry with a 375# tongue weight. When I add on to the hitch area 2 filled propane tanks, 2-100ah batteries, a Jack-It with 2 bikes, and 100# of gear in the rear of the Edge, that takes me to more than 700# tongue weight, or just over 20 of my allowed GVW. Obviously I can order a Blue Ox or Fastway rated to handle that much weight, but my question is in regards to the 10-15 weight normally desired on the tongue. By using an appropriately sized WDH, can I ignore this front heavy imbalance? I really have nothing heavy to counterload the trailer with and I am very confident that the Edge could handle the weight being passed to it by the WDH. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:

I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System part # FA92-00-0600 with 2" Hitch Ball part # A-90 for a Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro 15TB. In regards to using a weight distribution system, the rule of 10-15% for tongue load will still apply. Therefore, you would still want the tongue weight of the trailer to be within range even when using a weight distribution system. The tongue weight is likely well over what the vehicle is capable of handing even though the weight distribution system will minimize the effects.
