Can you Attach a Class 2 Accessory on a Class I Hitch?
Question:
Can I install a platform bike rack that calls for a class 2 hitch to the class 1 hitch I just purchased?Order Number 111147619 I am looking at a swagman Chinnook type bike rack.

The difference between a class 1 1-1/4 inch hitch and a class 2 1-1/4 inch hitch is that the class 2 has about 350 pounds of maximum tongue weight (as opposed to the class 1's 200 pounds). Some class I hitches have a stop tab inside that blocks class 2 accessories.
That being said, the Swagman Chinook Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # S64683 will fit the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24967 since the Chinook is also rated to fit 1-1/4 inch class 1 trailer hitches.
