Higher Speed Rated Trailer Tire Setup for 13 inch Wheel

Question:

I currently have 10 Inch wheels with 16inch tires on my light weight boat trailer. I would like to get bigger wheel and tires mainly for safety on long higher speed trips. I travel interstates that have 70MPH speed limits. I was looking at Bias tires with 13 inch rims. The load rating is much higher than what is currently on my trailer. I was wondering if going with bigger wheel and tires would effect the 1 inch axle that is on the trailer. Thanks for the advice.

Going to a larger wheel and tire won't hurt or affect your axle in any way. So if you wanted to go up to a 13 inch wheel and tire size like the 175/80-13 like with the part # AM31985 for a 5 lug wheel or part # AM3S120 for a 4 lug you'd gain the extra speed rating you want as well as weight capacity.

Overall diameter of both of these is 24 inches, the speed rating is 81 mph, and the width is 6.6 inch.
