Is Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar Different Than Falcon 2 Tow Bar

Question:

Interested in upgrading an older Road Master Sterling tow bar with Road Master Falcon All-Terrain non binding tow bar. Is the RM-522 considered the Falcon 2? Was wondering if possible to buy only the falcon hitch and use our existing base plate?

There is a difference between the tow bars you mentioned, as there is both a Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 and a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522; and between the two, the much better option is the Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522.

The reason for that is the Falcon All-Terrain is so much easier to use, as it has a non-binding design and you can disconnect with the use of its latches. The Falcon 2, meanwhile, is more difficult and you'll need the Roadmaster Release Tool # RM-066 to relieve the binding pressure to disconnect. The Falcon All-Terrain also has guides for clean use of safety cables like # RM-645 while the Falcon 2 requires you to wrap them around the tow bar and they could be come loose and hang on the ground.

In regards to fit, I don't know specifically what base plates you have, but the Falcon All-Terrain does connect to all Roadmaster base plates.

I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522.
