Trailer Brake Controller Installation on 1998 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
Can Tekonsha Primus IQ Install on 1998 Toyota 4Runner Limited? If so, us there a standard wiring kit to attach to Tekonsha or does tow vehicle wiring need to be installed first? Thank you.

A brake controller isn't a vehicle-specific item, you can install a brake controller on just about any vehicle. The 1998 Toyota 4Runner wasn't prewired for a brake controller, so you'll need to hardwire the controller.
You'll begin by installing a functional 4 pole trailer connector (if you don't have one already) which accesses the vehicle's taillight circuits for use by the trailer. I'd recommend using part # 118341. To install the # TK90160 Tekonsha Primus brake controller, you'd use our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. The install kit includes all the wire, hardware, circuit breakers and the adapter to convert the 4 pole provided by the # 118341 into a 7-way trailer connector.
I've linked to some videos that will help walk you through the installation.
