2006 Toyota Tundra Trailer Hitch Receiver Options for With/Without Factory Tow Bumper

Question:

My grandson has a 2006 Toyota Tundra SR pickup. It has 4 doors. The choice of hitch will depend if there is a factory towable bumper. I dont know what they looks like. What would you need to see what is what. Of course, non-drilling is desired. Class C 5,000 rating Im sure is satisfactory

A factory towable bumper has additional features/bracing to aid in towing that the other option does not. A factory towable bumper on a Toyota Tundra has a hole located in the the bumper for a hitch ball, on the bumper step area in front of the license plate.

The trailer hitch receiver I recommend for your Tundra is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13184 because it will fit models both with the towable bumper and models with the non-towable bumper. This hitch has a Class III rating with a 2" receiver tube opening. I have attached an install video for you as well.

If wiring is needed, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brakes # ETBC7. This will give you all the wiring, connections, and circuit breakers you need to install a brake controller so you can tow a trailer with brakes.
