How is the Length of a Ball Mount Measured
Question:
When your item description states 9.5 length for a ball mount for a 2.5 reciever is it total length overall, end to pin hole, ball hole ? Also do you have hitch extension for a truck with a 2.5 receiver that is just a straight length of 2.5 tubing that will accept a 2 ball mount. That could be used without any other adapters.

The length of a ball mount like the Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 7" Rise, 8" Drop - 9-1/2" Long - 12,000 lbs # 4283 is measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball mount hole. This particular ball mount is 9-1/2" long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the ball mount hole.
In regards to your second question you could use the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # HR26 but it would reduce your tongue weight by 1/3 of the capacity; for that reason your best bet to reduce your 2-1/2" would be just to use a reducer sleeve that fits inside the receiver like the Gen-Y # 325-GH-007.
