Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch For 2017 Ram 2500 Short Bed With OEM Prep Package

I just purchased a 5th wheel camper. Camper weight of 14,000. I have a 2017 Ram 2500, short bed, with the factory puck holes for 5th wheel install. I am interested in the Curt systems. But not sure what is included. Which kit comes with everything I need to install this hitch into my truck? I notice some say, under bed rails. Do I need those if my truck is already set up from the factory to just a hitch in? Or does that mean they just go into the factory installed under bed rails?

The Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16520-16021 you were looking at will fit directly into the OEM pucks in your 2017 Ram 2500. However, you will want to go with a slider hitch since your truck has the 6-1/2' bed.
For a slider hitch I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16521 with Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Ram Towing Prep Package # C16022. The reason a slider hitch is recommend for short bed trucks is due to the decreased cab to trailer clearance that will reduce how sharp you can turn without the trailer contacting the cab of your Ram. A slider hitch bypasses this by sliding back 12" when you need to make a sharp turn to give you the clearance you need.
There are multiple styles of bases for each hitch, but since your Ram has the OEM pucks you will want ones that say for Ram Towing Prep Package which can all be found by going through our fitguide.
