Trailer Wiring Harness Included With Stealth SH94VR Hitch for 2013 BMW 335 Convertible
Question:
Hello, I would like to buy trailer hitch Code: SH94VR for my 2013 BMW 335 Convertible. I would like to use the hitch for towing too. I would like to install the Tekonsha wiring harness ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit - 119250KIT instead of the one included in the Stealth Hitch Towing Kit Towing Package Upgrade Kit 391CONVA7 . In other words , I dont want to pay for a harness Im not going to use. Is there a way to do that? Thank you.

To get the towing ball mount, you'll need to order the # SH94VR hitch kit, which includes the # SH94VR hitch, plus the towing ball mount attachment and the trailer wiring harness. Unfortunately, Stealth Hitch doesn't offer the ball mount portion individually.
There is good news, though. I spoke with my contact in the Tech Services department at Stealth. We discussed how you're wanting to use the Tekonsha # 119250KIT ZCI wiring harness. We both agreed that the Tekonsha ZCI is a quality product that usually works very well, however they aren't completely without issue. The sensors are sensitive to bleed-over from adjacent circuit which can cause the harness to malfunction. The taillight converter/harness included with the # SH94VR hitch would NOT require any cutting or splicing of your factory wiring. It uses install clamps that are similar to a quick connect or scotch lock but rather than almost cutting the wire in half like the scotch locks do, the connectors included with the kit make a small piercing in the wire to contact that circuit for what I would consider a more reliable connection. I was told that the connectors included with the kit are actually the same ones BMW uses and obtains from a 3rd party manufacturer. The harness would honestly work very well for you.
I've linked to a diagram from the installation instructions that shows the wire color coding you'd need to use to install the trailer connector harness.
