Should I Use Bike Rack Stabilizing Strap on my Subaru Outback

Does the Draw Tite class II 11/4 in. Custom fit 36493 hitch require a stabilizing strap when used with a platform style bicycle rack on a Subaru Outback

Hi, great question and the short answer is no. While per manufacturers specs it is not required to use a stabilizing strap with the Draw-Tite # 36493, use of one is a judgement call that really depends on your situation. Please consider the weight of bike rack and the load being carried, I would also consider the terrain; how rough of a ride are you inflicting on the load? If you decide to take the added precaution, I recommend the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories # 18050.
