How to Pick Out a Weight Distribution System for a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Towing a 7,000 lb Camper
Question:
I have a 2012 dodge ram 1500, I have just purchased a 7000lb camper with a tonge weight of 715lbs.My truck has a 5.7 liter hemi under the hood.I would like to know which weight distribution hitch would work best with this set up? the dealer said to go with a Reese.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to based on the loaded tongue weight of your setup when it is fully loaded and ready to go. I would recommend loading your trailer up camper like you are going on a trip and then determining the tongue weight. Check out the FAQ article I attached that details how to do this.
Most likely the Reese Weight Distribution System # RP66542 would work since it has a tongue weight range that should work well with your setup. I attached an FAQ on weight distribution and installation instructions for this product for you to check out also.
You should also confirm with the owners manual of your 2012 Dodge Ram that you are within your safe towing capacities.
