5th Wheel Hitch and Suspension Enhancement for 2018 Nissan Titan XD Short Bed w/ Factory Gooseneck

Question:

I’m in the market for a 5th wheeler and was wondering if you recommend the airbag 5,000’s or another rear end suspension help. Also what kind of 5th wheel hitch do you recommend? I have a 2018 Titan XD 5.6L it already has the gooseneck integrated into the bed and it’s a 6-1/2 foot bed. Thanks

Let's start with the rear suspension help for your 2018 Nissan Titan XD, and for the best overall support I do recommend air bags for your truck, with the correct fit being the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2594.

These air bags - which I confirmed with Firestone are a fit for your '18 Titan XD with the factory gooseneck - are going to provide you with the most comfortable and controlled ride not only because of their strength but because you can customize the correct air pressure for when you are towing or when you are not. Air bags do require maintenance, and if you are going that route I highly recommend a compressor to make maintaining the correct pressure simple, the Wireless Air Command Compressor System # F2610.

For the fifth wheel hitch, since your 2018 Nissan Titan XD short bed has the factory gooseneck, the first thing you will need is an adapter that will allow you to mount a 5th wheel hitch, the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Nissan Titan XD # DM6200.

This will give your Nissan standard, above-bed 5th wheel rails, and for the hitch, the one I really love for your Titan is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034.

The reason I really like the Hijacker is because of its uniquely strong jaw system. The hitch has a single-piece jaw that wraps totally around the king pin, and that connection is reinforced via a 3/4" solid steel bar that locks into place once the jaw is closed. The reinforced jaw system is what will give you a much quieter ride with less rattling and slack in the jaws than other hitches.
