Weight Distribution Hitch For 3,800lb Travel Trailer Pulled By 2012 Toyota Siennna

Question:

Im looking to buy the equal-i-zer 600/6,000 lb. w/ pre-installed hitch ball for my 2012 Toyota Sequoia, but when I that vehicle on your site, I cannot find that hitch. Any reason? is that hitch one you sell? Is it not good for my SUV? Were towing a TT with a GVWR of 3,800 lbs. Even with a TW at 15, that puts us at 570 lbs. Likely we will be less than that most of the time. Thanks for your help!

It is always a good idea to check the owner's manual or check with the manufacturer to verify the towing capabilities of your vehicle.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution # EQ37061ET will work great for your 3,800lb travel trailer with a tongue weight of 570lbs. This has a max towing weight of 6,000lbs and max tongue weight of 600lbs. Weight distribution systems are not vehicle specific, so as long as your hitch is rated for use with weight distribution and rated for the correct amount, you will not have an issue.

You will need a shank for this setup; I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank # FA92-02-4315 as this has a maximum tongue weight of 1,200lbs which will be plenty.

As mentioned above, you want to make sure you have at least a class 3 receiver hitch that is rated for weight distribution hitches. If you do not have one, I would go with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2" # 75237. This has a max towing capacity of 5,000lbs with weight distribution hitch and max tongue weight of 675lbs.

One last thing to keep in mind is that you will need a thin-walled socket to install the hitch ball. You may be able to work with what you have, but I will link thin-walled socket just in case you need one # EQ70-00-4800.
