Is The Redarc 25 Amp BCDC Charger Enough For A Small Pop-Up
Question:
I am looking into installing a Redarc DC to DC system. Question is will the 25 amp be enough or should I install 30 or 40 amp. I am only going to be running a small refrigerator while driving long distance, and this is for a small pop up camper. Second question is, on my camper my batteries are in back of camper, so they are 15 ft from the hitch. So If I also perchuse your install kit for the Dc to Dc install, this kit comes with 24ft and 9 ft of wire. I will have to splice the wire going back to the batteries if I buy this kit because I need about 15ft on camper side and about 20 ft on truck side. Will it be OK to but splice wire on camper side to reach the charger and batteries. Thank You very much.

The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 25 Amp Item # 331-BCDC1225D should be enough. The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 40 Amp Item # 331-BCDC1240D is designed for battery banks that are 200 AH or more. If your battery bank has 200 AH or more I recommend going with the 40 amp.
When installing the Trailer Installation Kit for Redarc BCDC - 25 Amp Item # e79ZR the wires can be spliced together with a butt connector that comes in the kit.
