Identifying Correct Replacement Handle for Dutton-Lainson Trailer Tongue Jack

Question:

My trailer is a 1996 with an 800 lb rated Dutton-Lainson jack. I cannot find any ID on it. It has a u-shaped cap over the gears the handle turns that is held on by a spring clip. Will DL22448 work as a replacement handle??

Dutton-Lainson identifies replacement parts for its products based on the model number and/or manufacturing date code. These identifiers are stamped into the product.

Check at the bottom of the main tube, about an inch or so above the swivel caster. There should be a 4-digit date code stamped into the tube (it should be stamped in the vertical direction).

My contact at Dutton-Lainson confirmed that their products of that era (1996) did not have a model number stamped but will have the date code. (The date code is written as week number and then year, so for example a date code of 4195 would indicate manufacture in week 41 of 1995.) They indicated that if your jack date code is 4296 or later the correct handle should be part # DL22446; this is the replacement handle for a side-wind jack. If your jack is a side-wind type, then this is your part.

If your jack is a top-wind type, then please provide the date code so we can get you to the correct replacement handle.
