What is Needed to Carry Bikes on 2010 Honda Insight

Question:

What do I need aside from #11051 hitch to carry a bike rack? Do I need wires to carry bikes? I dont have a bike rack yet. Do I need a drawbar pin and clip? A rubber cover? I have a 2010 Honda Insight EX and have regular bikes now but thinking it might be good to have a recumbent in the future. Thanks

The only thing that is required to carry bikes on your 2010 Honda Insight is a bike rack as well as the trailer hitch you mentioned, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11051.

However, it is important to note that this is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver, which means that the bike rack you get needs to be Class I compatible. For example, the perfect option for a Class I compatible rack is the Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # S64670.

The Swagman XTC-2 is a fantastic value as it holds bikes very securely, is able to tilt up for when you aren't using it, and comes with an anti-rattle bolt to keep it steady in the hitch, though I highly recommend protecting your investment and locking the rack in your hitch with the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin # S64029.

The price point for what you get with this rack just can't be beat, so it is easily my top choice for you. The XTC-2 can carry bikes with a maximum wheelbase of 66 inches so it can even work with some recumbent bikes as well.

The only other thing I recommend adding is the rubber cover you mentioned in order to keep your hitch receiver as protected as possible, and you can use Cover # C22271.
