Location of Brake Controller Connector on 2012 Ram Truck

Question:

There are two plugs under dash that appear to be for a controler hookup. Why the two plugs is my question. Want to be able to tow nothing more than a small Casita RV 2013 model. 17ft. It seem to have the installation people stumped and theyve been in the business of installing brake controls for a long time.

The connector you are looking for will be located taped to another larger wiring harness just to the right and above the emergency brake pedal, as shown in the photo I have edited for you.

You can confirm that this is the correct connector by testing it with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. One pin should show a constant 12-volt power supply, another should show voltage only when the brake pedal is pressed.

Unfortunately, my contact at Tekonsha was not able to shed any light on why there might be more than one connector. I know in the past, Ford would sometimes install two connectors if the original connector was made inaccessible, but I could not say why your Ram has two connectors.

If you are using the Dexter Predator Brake controller, you would also need the wiring adapter, part # 3021-S.

Hi, I still cannot find the trailer brake connector on my 2013 Ram 1500. My truck came with the rear trailer hookup and hitch and I will be pretty disillusioned if there is no brake connector. I see 2 gray connectors that sort of fit the description, but they are over the gas pedal. The only white one I see has 2 thin wires attached to it. I cant believe this would be it, it does not look the same as in your photo. Thanks, Joe

Dodge made a running change and moved the locations. There is one small plug above the gas pedal that you will use and another plug just on the other side of the dash panel, close to the drivers right knee. Check out the video at the included link.
