Recommended Carriers for 2 Kayaks on 2017 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
I am wondering which kayak roof rack would work best on my factory crossrails for my 2017 4runner. I would like to carry 2 kayaks. I am a 56 56 year old fairly strong woman. I want to be able to load one fairly easily by myself. So just wondering what the best one would be for that. I dont want an assisted loader because I cant afford that much. Thank you!

The etrailer brand # e98878 Kayak carrier would be an excellent but reasonably priced choice for carrying two kayaks, but you'd need to purchase two of them. The carriers are compatible with your factory crossbars.
The carriers include the tie down straps to secure the kayaks to the carrier as well as the bow/stern tie downs to secure the kayak to the front and rear of the vehicle for extra stability. Anchor straps that can be closed in the vehicle hood and tailgate are also provided. The anchors provide a convenient attachment point for the bow/stern tie downs so you don't need to attach the metal hook directly to the vehicle and possible scratch it.
Since your 4Runner is a fairly tall vehicle, you might also be interested in a door step like # RL100660 which will make accessing the roof much easier.
I've linked to a product demonstration video showing the etrailer kayak carrier in place on a co-worker's 4Runner, as well a to a video showing how the door step works.
