Does Saris Freedom 4 Rack Fit 12 and 16 Kids Bikes?

Question:

Hello, Im trying to decide between this and the Kuat Base 2.0 with +2 addon. Im having a hard time finding a platform style bike rack that can accommodate 16inch and 12inch kids bike on there? Are these two bikes meant for the back of the trunk only? Ultimately as a family of 4, we would like to have a 4 bike rack now or we can get a 2 bike rack and upgrade with the add on pieces when the kids are older and ride bigger bikes. Thanks, Henry

Great News! The Saris # SA4414B Freedom 4 bike rack will accommodate all four of your bikes, even the small 12" bike. The wheel baskets can be adjusted toward the center to fit bikes with a smaller wheelbase. I have attached a picture of the Freedom 4 with a 12" kids bike loaded. You're going to love that full loaded it can tilt down nearly to the ground to give you access to the rear trunk or hatch area. This is a really well made rack that might outlast your bikes, and when the kids are ready to move up to larger bikes this rack will still work for your needs.

The Superclamp EX is 10 pounds heavier, will accommodate slightly larger bikes, has locks included, and has no-frame contact as it clamps down on top of the tire. Whereas the Freedom 4 connects to the downtube running between the seat and the crank. The Freedom 4's clamping method is why you can haul very small bikes like you want. The Kuat NV 2.0 and Sherpa have the same issue. If you are concerned about locks you can always use a locking hitch pin with cable lock like the Hollywood Racks # HRLHPC2 to secure the rack and bikes.
