Compatibility of Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier and Folding Cargo Carrier

Question:

I am wanting to purchase a spare tire hitch mount, as well as a cargo carrier that can fold and lock upright when not being used. I am wondering if the Road Master Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier #RM-195225 would be compatible with the 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Steel-Folding-500lbs #C18153 with the spare mounted. I dont know if the cargo carrier can fold up and not hit my tires. The size tires I have are 225/75 R16. If you need more information to help me determine if the cargo carrier can fold up and bolt into place while my spare is on the Road Master hitch, please let me know. Thank-you

The Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening - 2" Hitches # RM-195225 is compatible with the 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs # C18151 as long as the tongue weight when using the spare tire carrier is under 400 lbs. The cargo carrier itself weighs 55 lbs leaving a maximum cargo weight of 345 lbs.

The carrier will be 9 inches from the center of the hitch pin to inside edge of the carrier when folded. Your tire has a width of 8.9 inches so using the outside hitch pin hole, it would just fit if the tire where to fit up against the mast. The style of your wheel rim will likely make it so that rack won't be able to fold. You would need to use an extender for folding but it wouldn't be recommended to use that extender with the cargo carrier in use as it will reduce the capacity by 50%. Using a short hitch extender like the Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 7" # HE06 is a great option to add for folding but I don't' recommend leaving it installed for carrying.
