Thule Gateway Pro 2-Bike Rack vs. Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2-Bike Rack
Question:
Thule Gateway Pro 2 versus Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Carrier?? The Hollywood looks more sturdy?

Expert Reply:
Between the two trunk-mounted bike racks you asked about for your 2016 BMW X5, the Thule Gateway Pro 2-Bike Rack # TH88VR and discontinued Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2-Bike Rack HRF2, the better overall bike rack is the Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR.
The Gateway Pro adds the best stability and security for your bikes while also being the easiest to use. The Gateway Pro is simpler to install due to its lever system that allows you to more easily adjust the rack, it is lighter so it is easier to manage, and it comes with an included cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. To lock your bikes to the Hollywood you would need a separate lock, the Cable Lock # e98891.
The only thing you may need with either rack, if you are going to be carrying children's bikes, women's bikes, or alternative frame bikes (such as step-through frames), is an adapter bar to give the bikes a horizontal mounting point, the Bike Frame Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO.
