Custom 5th Wheel Base Rail Kit for 2020 Ram 1500 With EcoDiesel Engine & 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

I purchased from eTrailer a Curt A16 with slider option for my 2015 Ram Eco Diesel and now looking to upgrade my vehicle to a 2020 Ram 1500 eco diesel 5 foot 7 inch bed - and will need a new Curt custom rail kit for the newer truck. Can you give me any part #s and/or info for the replacement rail kit that will work both with my existing Curt A16 w/slider and the new Ram 2020 Eco Diesel?

There are a pair of custom 5th wheel base rail and installation kits that fit your 2020 Ram 1500 with an EcoDiesel Engine and 5-1/2 foot bed, from Demco and Reese. You can choose from either, though the Demco rails do NOT fit if your '20 Ram 1500 has the factory Air Suspension system, while the Reese WILL fit if you have the Air Suspension system.

- Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Hitches # DM8552032-71

- Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit with Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56018-53

You won't be able to use the Curt A series hitch since it is not compatible, but you can use a standard fixed hitch like the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30928 with Wedge # RP44FR.

To find the correct Sidewinder what you will need to know is the manufacturer and model number of the pin box on your fifth wheel and match that with the correct replacement, however, the correct part is likely the Sidewinder # RP34FR.

This will replace Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD, Fabex 663 and 665, M&M 663 and 665, along with Lippert 1716, 1116, and 0115 pin boxes. The Lippert 1716, 1116, and 0115 pin boxes do require the Spacer Kit # RP97FR.

The pin box number should be on a sticker or placard somewhere on the pin box itself, or you can call the trailer manufacturer with your VIN.
