What is Battery Amp Rating Needed for Breakaway Battery for Hydrastar Actuator
Question:
Will a breakaway kit with a 5 AH battery work for the Hydrastar HBA16 or do I need a larger battery? How many amps does the HBA16 draw in a break away state? I have a 2 axle Montana 5th wheel that I am converting to disc brakes with a gross weight of about 14,000 lbs.

Yes the Hydrastar part # HBA16 actuator can work with any 5 amp hour breakaway battery. When the breakaway is pulled the actuator will draw it's maximum amount as it will attempt to lock up the brakes as firmly as it can. This requires a 25 to 40 amp circuit normally but the exact amperage will vary.
We do sell this kit with a battery and all of the other components needed with part # HS381-9067.
