Adapter Module Needed For Hydrastar Actuator Used With Ford F-150 And Factory Brake Controller
Question:
I HAVE A 2014 FORD F150 WITH FACTORY INSTALLED BRAKE CONTROLLER. IM TRYING TO CONNECT TO A 2005 EASY LOAD TRAILER WITH DISC BRAKES AND A HYDRASTAR ACTUATOR. WHEN I PLUG IN THE TRAILER I GET A TRAILER NOT CONNECTED MESSAGE AND THE HYDRASTAR MAKES A MUTED LITTLE CLICK EVERY SECOND OR SO AND THE BRAKES DO NOT GO ON. IS THIS A COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM WITH THE FORD CONTROLLER I KNOW THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN THE PAST OR COULD IT BE A FAILURE IN THE HYDRASTAR UNIT? THANKS,

I spoke with my contact at Carlisle who manufacturers Hydrastar about your 2014 Ford F-150 with the factory brake controller.
In order for the brakes to operate correctly with the Hydrastar actuator, you will need the Carlisle Control Adapter Module, part # HBA-CAM. You will just simply attach the blue wire to the blue wire on your actuator and the white wire to the white wire on the actuator.
They also told me that in order to test the brakes the trailer has to be moving.
