Pop up trailer brake light and turn signal on right side not working

Question:

I have a 7 way plug on my trailer and the trailers brake light and turn signal on the right side are not working. I thought the problem was on my trailer, but when I connected the trailer to my 2nd truck, the lights were working. The problem seems to be on my 2013 Toyota Tacoma... I assume. I checked to see if there was power coming to the trailer plug on the truck and it does have power when I checked with a circuit tester. What else could it be?

I recommend checking the fuses under your dash. Some vehicles will have separate fuses for each function. My uncle had the same issue. I advised him to check the fuses first and he determined that he had a fuse blown. If your fuses are not the issue then check your 7 pole plug on the back of your Tacoma again. Have someone run through all the functions and test each one. You may be getting power to the plug but each function is going to be separate. If your determine that some of your functions are not working at your plug you can remove the wiring bundle on the back of the plug. Check to see if there is any corrosion. A lot of times moisture will gather in between the wire connector and the plug itself. If there is you can try scraping the corrosion off or replacing the plug itself. Add dialectic grease to the pins before connecting the two back together to prevent further corrosion. I recommend one of these as a replacements EZ Connector Magnetic 7-Way Trailer Connectors w/ Watertight Seal - Custom - Vehicle/Trailer End Item # 319-R7-02.
