Total Amp Rating Of Tekonsha T-One Needed For 4-way Connection To Uhaul 5x9 Utility Trailer

Question:

I was wondering if a uhaul utility trailer lights, turn signals, brake lights, running lights, would draw more than a total of 10 amps through the 4 way trailer lighting harness? Ive seen videos of people who connect their trailer wiring harness adapter to the rear cigarette lighter in the trunk of the Sienna since its rated at 10 amps and has an inline fuse, instead of running a positive wire all the way under the vehicle to the battery located way up forward in the engine compartment. Thanks!

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118648 has a maximum amperage of 2.1 amps per circuit for the stop/turn lights and 7.5 amps per circuit for the tail lights. It is designed for a 15 amp fuse, so I can't recommend running the wire to a 10 amp outlet as overloading a circuit could cause a fire. The kit comes with the wire needed for running the 12 gauge wire to the battery and that is my recommendation. It takes a little more work to install but will operate as intended.
