Solera Manual Pull Style Awning Drive Head Installation
Question:
Are there installation instructions for installing the drive head? I have just received Part # LC 272067 Order # 109903090 and am ready to install. My previous drive head shaft was broken by an accident and am replacing the complete drive head assembly. I need instructions for installation. Is the spring under tension when installed, so that it will retract fully when closing? The left hand Idle Shaft had tension on it when I took the canvas down. I pulled the canvas out about 12” and then installed a cotter pin in shaft to hold it in place when removing the canvas. Now I’m ready to re-install all of the components to the support arms on both sides. Thank you for your quick response.

When installing the Solera Manual Pull Style Awning Drive Head, Black # LC272067 you will want the spring to be under some tension when completing the installation so that it draws the awning back fully once you've completed the installation. My contact at Lippert mentioned you'll want to secure the awning arm before removing the head and un-fastening the screw that keeps it attached to the arm. You can then pull the awning out slightly, install the head and then fasten everything back up. I've also linked the instructions for this awning that you may find helpful.
