Do Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems Require Metal Valve Stems?

Should that stem be replaced with a metal stem for a screw-on TPMS? Lots of different answers about that.

The Kendra ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" White Spoke Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - LR E # AM32680 does not require changing the valve stem to use a screw on TPMS like the TST # TST-507-RV-4-C. There are people who want the metal valve stem # AM20906 because it makes them feel more secure, but it isn't required by the manufacturers.
