How to Change Just Two Tires at a Time on Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

I am changing all 4 tires on my trailer, however, I cant take the trailer in. Can I leave the trailer sitting on 1 tire on each side while I take the tires in to get replaced? Or should I do 1 side at a time? If I can leave the trailer with 1 tire on each side, should I stagger the tires, or have them both on either the front or rear axle?

When changing just a couple tires at a time on your trailer, you will want to keep the trailer raised up off the ground to keep weight off the remaining tires. You can use jack stands like # PTW41021 to stabilize the jacked up trailer or the TrailerLegs Tire Save Stands # 326-TRLLG-4 to both lift the wheels off the ground and keep it raised while you head out to get the new tires mounted on your wheels.

I don't recommend lowering the trailer so that its total weight is just on 2 tires. This will most likely result in the trailer weight exceeding the combined load capacity of the 2 tires which might lead to failure/damage on the remaining tires and wheels.
