There could be a couple of different things that are preventing finishing installation of hitch # 75742 on your CR-V. First, if you look at the instructions it says to remove the outside isolator first, then the inside isolator. When re-installing them, reverse this process by installing the inside one first, then the outside one.

If the issue is more of space it is possible that the hitch has flexed during shipping. If the bolt holes do not line up then that is probably the case. You can use an open step or bench vise (something to apply controlled force) to flex the hitch back. As long as there are no stress marks or paint flaking off where the hitch flexed this is permissible.

It also may help to just have everything loosely installed, but stable, which will give you a little more wiggle room to get the bracket positioned correctly. Once that is done you can tighten everything down according to the specs in the instructions.
