Can More Aggressive Brakes Be Obtained for 3,500 Lb Axle
Question:
I have a 2016 Casita single axle fiberglass travel trailer with a 3,500 GVW rating, Dexter easy-lube axle, and 15 inch class D tires. I want to replace my brake assemblies as the magnet on one side has a piece flaked off. I would very much like to increase the aggressiveness of the brakes with this repair. Which of the several options for 10inch self-adjusting brake assemblies do you think will be more aggressive?

The Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35 is what I recommend using to replace the braking assemblies on a trailer with 3,500 lb axle or 10" brakes. In regards to braking aggression, this is going to be more or less the same for all replacement braking assemblies that fit a 3,500 lb axle. That said, I am sure you will feel more of a bite with the newer assemblies.
It might also be worthwhile to upgrade the brake controller to one with boost settings if you don't already have one, the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160. This will help increase the aggression of the brakes.
