Axle Replacement for 6,000 lb Axle with 78.25 Inch Spring Seats

Question:

I have a 2007 Weekend Warrior FS2600. A bearing went out and it gouged up the spindle pretty bad. I smoothed it out with a grinder and it got me home but there is a little play between the inner race of the bearing and the spindle. So I think I should probably replace the axle. My GVWR is 11,100 lbs so I believe that means I have 6k axles. However my spring mount center distance is 78.25inch and I dont see that size available. Is that a custom size? Am I measuring or looking into this wrong?

You are measuring correctly for the spring seats and you definitely want to replace that axle as the spindle is toast. You will also want to measure for the hub face to hub face measurements. If you have 89 inch hub to hub, you can use the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 89" Long - 6,000 lbs # 8327830 but you will need to have the spring seat # TRSS300 welded in the correct locations. If you have 95 inch hub face to hub face, you can use the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 6,000 lbs # 7461121 and then use the # TRSS300 to weld your 78.25 inch on center spring seats.
