Troubleshooting Brake Controller of 2020 Chevy Traverse that Won't Work with Brake Pedal
Question:
I have a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 that works fine in my 2018 Chevy Silverado and 2017 Chevy Traverse. I am trying to move my P2 to my new 2020 Chevy Traverse. The new 2020 Traverse is the basic LS model without towing package from the factory. I found the blunt cut wires for the brake controller in the car and connected the wires to the brake controller. The 2020 Chevy Traverse wires are as follows: Red/Blue wire is the +Voltage, White/Blue wire is the signal from the Brakes, Blue wire is the signal to the Brakes, Black wire is Ground. The brake controller does not know when I press the brake pedal. I can activate the brakes by manually moving the switch on the brake controller. So, it seems the signal from the brake is not getting to the controller. I found another person online who is having the same problem with his 2020 Traverse. If you have come across this issue and have a solution, please let me know. Thanks,

Your issue is the connection to or the wire you ran the red wire of the brake controller to. So the one that is white and blue. The circuit the red wire of the brake controller needs to run to has to have 12 volts when the brakes are applied and none when released. This is what tells the controller you are applying the vehicle brakes. Check the connection here and the circuit for voltage with a tester like part # PTW2993. If there is no voltage hear check the third brake light fuse as that commonly takes out this circuit.
