Could Kuat NV 4 Bike Rack Fit the etrailer Hitch of 2011 Toyota RAV4 and Fold Up
Question:
I own a 2011 Toyota Rav4 that has a spare tire on the rear door. I am interested in getting the Kuat NV 2.0 4 bike version. I have installed the etrailer e98864 trailer hitch. I believe the Kuat may not be able to fold up in the vertical position with sufficient clearance from the spare tire. I understand there is a hitch extender such as one made by Brophy Item # HE06 but with an extender the capacity of the hitch is reduced by half. Even with half capacity would it still support the 4 bike Kuat NV 2.0 and 4 bikes each bike at most 35 pounds? I am brand new to hitches and this will be my first hitch bike rack to purchase from your company. Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

When we installed an etrailer hitch part # e98864 on a 2011 Toyota RAV4 like yours we found that there was 7 inches from the pin hole out to the furthest point out on the rear spare. So the Kuat NV part # NV22G-NA22G that you are interested in would miss having the clearance needed by 3/8 of an inch so you could use a hitch extender like the # HE06 to get more clearance but like you said the hitch capacity would be cut in half.
