Towing a 425 lb. Track Bike with my 2012 Volkwagon Tiguan
Question:
Hello I do not know really what i am looking for . i found a motorcycle carrier that hold about 600 lbs Black Widow Heavy Duty Steel Motorcycle Carrier – 600 lb. Capacity and i own a VW Tiguan 2012. I did not see any hitch receiver that has a cross bar and i do not know if is safety. I have a track bike that is about 425 lbs. Please let me know what you is your advise.

For your 2012 Volkswagon Tiguan the highest capacity come with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98906. The reason there is not one with a cross tube is that the design of the vehicle does not allow it. They generally design these hitches to be right at the vehicles capacity or just over that. I recommend checking your owner's manual but even if it is the 350 lbs. these hitches offer it will not be enough for your bike let alone the bike and rack weight combined.
I recommend going with a small utility trailer. You can use one of the above hitches, the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118675 and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 to accomplish your goal of getting your bike to the track.
I've linked installation videos on these for you to check out.
