Choosing Between 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches for a 2017 VW Golf Alltrack
Question:
Hi there. We are looking for a bike rack for our 2017 VW all track. There is no hitch receiver presently so we have the option of going with either size you apparently sell both eco hitches. I realize that the 2inch will be a bit sturdier, with possibly less wobble, which is what we are looking for. But, I notice that the 1 1/4inch version has a bit more rise to it, which might help with some possible clearance issues when loaded up and extended. Can you help me choose the correct option? The best trailer hitch option for a 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7315 which has the larger receiver tube opening. The main benefit of this larger receiver tube opening is actually the higher capacity and larger selection of hitch mounted accessories to choose from. In regards to ground clearance, the smaller opening will have more but only marginally so this is not what I would recommend be the determining factor.
For a bike rack, the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack part # SH22B is a phenomenal option.
